Tiger Bay sponsored a Debate between David Biddulph and John Charles Thomas. David is a semi-retired entrepreneur and citizen activist who co-founded the Vote On Taxes Committee. John is the Director of Policy & Political Affairs for the Florida League of Cities.

Thomas E. Mann was the guest speaker on March 13th, 2009. He is the W. Averell Harriman Chair and Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at The Brookings Institution. Between 1987 and 1999, he was Director of Governmental Studies at Brookings.

Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas, representing Florida's 24th District, was our guest speaker on April 16th, 2009. Suzanne was elected to the FL House in 1996 and was re-elected three times, serving four consecutive terms before being term-limited.

Pulitzer Prize winning columnist John Bersia was our guest speaker on May 13th, 2009. John spoke on human trafficking (modern-day slavery, including forced labor and prostitution) and other current foreign affairs. Bersia serves as Special Assistant to the President for Global Perspectives at UCF.

Matt Falconer was our guest speaker on June 24, 2009. Matt graduated from ERAU with a Degree in Aeronautical Science. He is the author of “The Socialist Republic Of Florida” which is subtitled "How Florida went from a Booming Economy to a Government Induced Recession."

Tiger Bay Club welcomed guests Christopher L. Oakley and Tom Cunningham on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Indigo Lakes. Chris is VP and regional executive of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Tom is VP and associate director of research for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Tiger Bay Club welcomed guest Maurice McTigue on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Indigo Lakes. Mr. McTigue is a distinguished-visiting scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University where he directs the Government Accountability Project.

Tiger Bay Club & the Daytona Beach Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed special guest Senator Bill Nelson on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club.

Tiger Bay Club welcomed guest speaker Professor Randall Holcombe on September 17, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Indigo Lakes Banquet Room. Professor Holcombe is DeVoe Moore Professor of Economics at Florida State.


November 11, 2009

Tiger Bay Club welcomed guest speaker General John H. Johns on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009 at 12 Noon at Indigo Lakes. General Johns served as a combat arms officer in the Army for over 26 years, retiring as a brigadier general in 1978.
